Baetica Variations for Piano (2008)

Composed by Peter Jancewicz in 2008 at the suggestion of and dedicated to his wife Susan, who gave the first performance, the Baetica Variations are based on the intermezzo from Manuel de Falla’s “Fantasia Baetica”, composed in 1919. The name is derived from the old Roman province of Baetis, which is now Andalusia in southern Spain. The original “Fantasia Baetica” was commissioned by Artur Rubinstein.

This performance was recorded live in concert at Red Deer College, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada on November 29, 2015, by Peter Jancewicz.
