Repetitive Strain Injury is a serious problem for many professional musicians, teachers and their students. Peter and his wife, Susan Hlasny (Piano Coordinator at Mount Royal University), have been invited to speak about their experiences with RSI at the Performing Arts Medicine Conference at the University of Calgary, Friday December 6th, 2013.
The Performing Arts Medicine Conference focuses on the history of performing arts medicine in North America, common injuries among performing artists, typical treatment protocols, use of research to inform prevention and treatment activities and health promotion education programs for students and professional artists. It includes plenary sessions and hands-on workshops with physicians and healthcare professionals renowned in North America for their expertise in injuries in performing artists.
