Klezmer for Saint Nicholas

For many Christmases past, I’ve written an arrangement of a Christmas carol and sent it out to my friends and colleagues all over. It’s been some time since I’ve done that. This one was born when I was whooping it up with some colleagues at the Bistro Praha in Edmonton this past November, and Shelagh Scott challenged me to write a Klezmer on “Once in Royal David’s City.” Klezmer, for those unfamiliar with the style, is traditional Jewish music, largely dance tunes, used for weddings and other celebrations. Here it is.

Happy holidays. Enjoy!
